End a lovely day,
Just simply
Perfect.

@Morganna: I hope that poem is based on fact :)

@Marc: well, much as I'd like to go back to Slakoiné and his world, these last few prompts haven't really inspired me in that direction. I am thinking that there might be a theme here though... anything in particular happening? (Although now I say that, the addition of 'boundaries' is making things take a turn for the sinister :-D)

A perfect ending
The Soviet School of Wizardry and Witchcraft, known as хогворц, was a set of monolithic grey towers spaced at the points of a pentagon standing on a wide, flat plain. Between the towers was a large, deep lake in which Kraken were rumoured to live, and a chill wind blew near-constantly from the north. Snow fell for eight months of the year, and for the other four there was barely enough sunlight to grow food, so the school was heavily dependent on imports and deliveries from towns further south. Despite these challenges the school continued to produce a higher calibre of student than Koldovstoretz and quietly held the record the largest number of dark Lords educated and unleashed upon the world. It also held the record for the largest number of patronuses gathered in one place at the same time, but no-one seemed interested in talking about that.
Three Hogwarts students appeared in a flash of bright light at the gates of хогворц and seconds later twelve uniformed guards also apparated around them. Six wands were pointed at the students's heads, and two submachine-guns at their bellies.
"We're exchange students," said Hermione Mangey haughtily. She glared at the guards, who glared back. "Well I am," she continued. "He's my... pet," she pointed at Harry who was looking around like a tourist, "and he's... well, you can use him as a human sacrifice if you like."
"Hey!" protested Ronnie Weasel.
A teacher walked out of the shadows where there definitely hadn't been a teacher before.
"No exchange," he said. "We decided that this should be an educational trip for Miss Mangey here. You will meet the students who would have exchanged with you and they will show you around and help you out. Learning things." He looked at Harry, and muttered something under his breath. A faint rainbow halo encircled Harry, and the colours quickly drained out of it. "Hmm," he said. "How many times has this child been obliviated?"
Hermione smiled thinly. "At Hogwarts people enjoy changing their minds," she said.
"In Soviet хогворц our minds enjoy changing people. Anyway, meet Хермейоний. She's the sole survivor of her entrance class."
A slim girl stepped forward, thick blonde hair curling to her shoulders and smouldering eyes gazing at Ronnie in a way that made him squeak and cross his legs. A sense of jealous tension immediately arose.
"Accidents?" asked Hermione, casually looking past Хермейоний as though the school were more interesting.
"Perfect endings," said Хермейоний without a trace of an accent. "Baba Yaga predicted everyone of their deaths and was so right you'd think she'd killed them herself. Except, of course, that she's 103 and confined to a wheelchair."
Ronnie looked at the soaring towers of the school. "That must be inconvenient," he said.
"The wheelchair is carried on the legs of a chicken," said Хермейоний. "It eats things that get in its way."
"You must be her great-granddaughter then," said Hermione, affecting not to notice that the teacher and Хермейоний both narrowed their eyes.
"Why do you say that?"
"Oh, lucky guess."

Morganna - well done, in so few words.

Greg - um, let's see. Pub crawl... that was inspired by a random thought I had earlier that day, something along the lines of jokingly referring to my return to the cleaning job as crawling back to Public Works.

The perfect ending prompt was strictly about the Sedins final game in Vancouver.

And boundaries... not sure. Probably about Max pushing boundaries. That seems likely.

So no, nothing tying them together. On my end at least :)

At any rate, I'm pleased to see this prompt brought us back to Hermione and 'friends'. And in a brand new setting as well!
